Full-day tour - Aualm-Sulzkaralm-Hofpürglhütte-Aualm
Hike Description:
Road towards Hinterwinkl as far as the toll road. Ca. 1.5 km after the toll station, turn left across the bridge, making your way along the supply road to the Aualm (gravel road) as far as the Marcheggsattel (1,224 m), continuing on a gravel road (the forestry road to Neuberg branches off to the left) until the alpine pastures of the Aualm, including the Pehabalm, Wöhrer- and Poishütte, open up before you. The last hut, the Kirchgasshütte, serves refreshments.
You will hike right by the Kirchgasshütte on a wide path that climbs
moderately, making your way towards the Arzbergalm and Sulzkaralm. Cross
a small stream and you will finally come to a forest lane which runs
from Neuberg via the Arzbergalm to the Sulzkaralm. Keep to the right and
hike along this path out to the Sulzkaralm.
Directly in front of
the Sulzkaralm, a rather steep path, alpine association path 632, brings
you up to the Austriaweg. Follow the Austriaweg – trail Nos. 611/601 A –
which, at the foot of the Leckkogel and the Bischofsmütze, feeds into
the path which comes up from the Aualm. Here you again hike somewhat
uphill (for about 20 mins.) until you stand right in front of the
Hofpürglhütte. Return via the Aualm. Our TIP: On your way home, pay a
visit to the "Kirchgass-Hof" run by the Rettenwender family. Here you
will be able to sample some of their homemade farmhouse ice cream - pure
enjoyment, and not just on hot days!
