in Obertauern

The cross-country ski shop and the test centre are located directly at the cross-country ski trail at the Jugendhotel Tauernhof in Obertauern. Here you can rent the race-ready prepared material. The ideal cross-country skiing conditions on the trail invite you to test on site. Our World Cup-tested wax experts have the right equipment for all snow conditions and carry out service work on site. You can find all further info here

Our TIP
Ride the free ski bus from right outside our hotel to the trails in Obertauern, Tweng and at the Gnadenalm (every 30 - 60 minutes there and back)!

SKATING & CLASSIC

An access point for this sunny XC trail can be found next to the Sports Center. The most beautiful stage is through the Hundsfeld Moor Nature Sanctuary, and concludes with an exhilarating downhill section back to the Sports Center. Another access point is located close to the snow-kiting area.

Access to this highly promising intermediate trail is right next to the Dr. Aufmesser medical practice. After an exhilarating downhill at the Kirchbühellift back to the Zehnerkar valley station, you can enjoy the tranquility of the countryside of the Weninger Au. Length: 10 km

Here you are greeted by a magical alpine trail at 1350 m above sea level. It extends out for about 15 km, is suitable for classic as well as "skating", and promises all levels of difficulty. NEW: Biathlon in Obertauern – The biathlon shooting range at the Gnadenalm offers biathlon for everyone. Length: 15 km

SKATING & CLASSIC

The heart of our region's XC opportunities is the 60 km-long "Tauernloipe", which interconnects the towns of Radstadt, Untertauern, Altenmarkt, Flachau, Wagrain and Eben. The highlight is undoubtedly the variety-packed stage from Radstadt to Untertauern with its beautiful, gently undulating countryside. If you prefer things a bit more leisurely, we suggest a cross-country outing to Mandling. If you are more "serious", you might consider exploring the Waldhöhenloipe in Zauchensee, and if that is still not enough, you will discover an opportunity to continue the fun after dark on the 3 km-long, floodlit  "Kaswurm-Loipe" in Radstadt.

The longest XC trail connects the towns of Tweng and Mauterndorf. Access points: Franzenbauer in the town center of Tweng, at the timber yard in Twenger Lantschfeld, across from Purnbauer farm in Vordertweng and at the Maly bus stop.
