Winter Hiking Paths in Obertauern/Untertauern

Taurachtal Path: Untertauern - Radstadt (10 km)

This idyllic hiking path alongside the Taurach begins at our hotel, leading you first through our own wildlife park, then through the snowy Pongau countryside all the way to Radstadt. If you prefer to take things a little easier on the way back, you have the option of riding the ski bus which runs between Radstadt and Untertauern back to your original starting point.

Wildlife Park Path - Taurach Canyon (2.5 km)

There is so much to see along this hiking path leading through Untertaurer Wildlilfe Park. Passing by our fishing ponds, you will climb to the waterfall, which is transformed into an imposing ice sculpture in the winter months. Further along, you will encounter romantic Hubertus Chapel, perched above the wildlife enclosure. The hike back down Taurach Canyon (through deep snow) is a natural spectacle quite beyond compare. Small tip: The waterfall and chapel are both lit up after dark!

Gnadenalm - Südwienerhütte (8 km)

Setting out from the Gnadenalm, you will hike along a plowed path from the Lower- to the Upper Gnadenalm. From there, the path winds its way uphill to the Südwienerhütte, which is also open to visitors in winter. Even if the hike up was hard work - you will be amply rewarded for your efforts by the magical mountain scenery. When you are ready to head back down, the Südwienerhütte has sleds available to borrow - for a perfect conclusion to an unforgettable winter outing!

Obertauern - Seekar (2.5 km)

From the pass heights in Obertauern, the route takes you past the Obertauern Sports Center, where sports stars such as Hermann Maier work on their fitness, and out towards the Seekar. The road meanders quietly through Hundsfeld Moor Nature Sanctuary in the direction of the Seekar. After a welcome refreshment stop at the Seekarhaus, the Kringsalm or the Dikt'n Alm, a hiking trail will lead you through Hundsfeld and back to the start.
