Felseralm - Hirschwandsteig - Südwienerhütte - Gnadenalm

Hike Description:

Enchanted lake - tranquil scenery
Using the hotel hiking bus, we will ride up into Ennstal valley to the Radstädter Tauern mountains.

Variant A (intermediate alpine hike)

This hike begins at the Felseralm at 1,660 m above sea level. Making our way through less dense larch forest, we hike, sometimes steeply, up to the Wildsee, elev. 1,925 m. Nestled in a mountain depression and surrounded by silence, it gives the impression as if time had stood still. A rest stop and a mountain picnic are bound to do you wonders.
An uphill hiking path brings us to the highest point of this day, the Hengst at 2,074 m. It gives us wonderful views of the Radstädter Tauern and the Gnadenalm. Dropping down to the Südwienerhütte at 1,802 m, we can look forward to another break and refreshments. Well rested, we will hike minus any noteworthy climbs or descents, partially through forests of pine, back to our original starting point at the Felseralm. (Time on Trail: about 5 hours)

Variant B (easy alpine hike)

Our starting point in this case is the Gnadenalm at 1,272 m. From there we make our way across the upper Gnadenalm to the Südwienerhütte at 1,802 m, where we stop for a rest and refreshments. The return hike is the same as Variant A as far as the Gnadenalm, but then we branch off to the Johannisfall waterfall, where we can enjoy the masses of water plunging into the depths below. After about 175 steps, we will finally reach our pick-up point. (Time on Trail: about 5 hours)
