Nature Experiences in Salzburger Land and Styria

"Wild Waters" in Untertal/Rohrmoos

About a 45-minute drive from the hotel

The "Wild Waters" alpine trail includes Riesach Waterfall in Untertal, dropping a thunderous 140 meters in 2 stages. And it is actually the highest waterfall in Styria. After walking up via a steep and winding, though also quite wide path with steps, in 30 minutes you will reach the trail proper, leading you through a canyon - which you will actually cross by means of a 50 meters-high suspension footbridge - and alongside the rushing waters of the Riesachbach.

This is a marvelous opportunity to experience the astonishing power of water, In springtime especially, after the snow melt, you are treated to a magnificent natural spectacle. That said, this trail does demand surefootedness and a head for heights - though it is still suitable for children, and very popular.

The way back down, via a forestry road, is suitable for everyone. This can also take you to the Obere Gfölleralm, avoiding the alpine trail. A natural spectacle for the whole family - please note that hiking up via the "Höllsteig" is not suitable for dogs.

Krimml Waterfalls

About a 70-minute drive from the hotel

Dropping a total of 380 meters in three stages, Krimml Waterfalls are the highest in Europe and a world-class natural wonder! Krimml Waterfalls are actually fed by the Krimmler Ache, which begins at the top of Krimmler Achental valley, flows amid lush alpine pastures, before transforming into a thunderous glacial stream and plunging into the depths below. Setting out from "WasserWunderWelt", a 10-minute walk along a nice footpath (originally built by the Austrian Alpine Association) will bring you straight to the lowest falls. The "Waterfall Path" will then lead you to the highest falls (about a 1-hour walk), affording spectacular views of the powerful water along the way.
