The "Wild Waters" alpine trail includes Riesach Waterfall in Untertal, dropping a thunderous 140 meters in 2 stages. And it is actually the highest waterfall in Styria. After walking up via a steep and winding, though also quite wide path with steps, in 30 minutes you will reach the trail proper, leading you through a canyon - which you will actually cross by means of a 50 meters-high suspension footbridge - and alongside the rushing waters of the Riesachbach.
This is a marvelous opportunity to experience the astonishing power of water, In springtime especially, after the snow melt, you are treated to a magnificent natural spectacle. That said, this trail does demand surefootedness and a head for heights - though it is still suitable for children, and very popular.
The way back down, via a forestry road, is suitable for everyone. This can also take you to the Obere Gfölleralm, avoiding the alpine trail. A natural spectacle for the whole family - please note that hiking up via the "Höllsteig" is not suitable for dogs.

Dropping a total of 380 meters in three stages, Krimml Waterfalls are the highest in Europe and a world-class natural wonder! Krimml Waterfalls are actually fed by the Krimmler Ache, which begins at the top of Krimmler Achental valley, flows amid lush alpine pastures, before transforming into a thunderous glacial stream and plunging into the depths below. Setting out from "WasserWunderWelt", a 10-minute walk along a nice footpath (originally built by the Austrian Alpine Association) will bring you straight to the lowest falls. The "Waterfall Path" will then lead you to the highest falls (about a 1-hour walk), affording spectacular views of the powerful water along the way.

Silberkarklamm is a romantic wild-water gorge in the heart of the Dachstein Massif. Setting out from the car park just above the loden mill in Ramsau-Rössing, you will walk alongside the Silberkarbach until you come to the entrance to the Silberkar (1050 m). This hike now takes you through magnificent, wild nature, past alpine plants and animals living in the unique ecosystem of this thunderous gorge. At the end of the gorge, the Silberkaralm comes into sight. Earlier part of an active hill farm, now a popular refreshment point for young and old. After about 35 minutes and a 200-meter gain, you will come to the Silberkarhütte (1250 m). This hikers' refuge offers organic products from their own farm, treating you to beautiful views from their sunny terrace. For families with children, the Silberkarhütte is generally the finish of a beautiful hike. For others, the hut is a great starting point for even more hikes on the so-called "Stein": a karst range along the Dachstein Massif.
